Borneo Mega-Dam Film Series
In 2014, I started a three year journey with the Borneo Project to write, film, and edit a documentary film series. The Mega-Dam Film Series sheds light on the impacts of mega-hydro dams in Sarawak, Malaysia. Some of these dams are so large, that they flood vast areas of rainforest: displacing ten's of thousands of indigenous peoples from their homes, threatening the extinction of endemic species, and contributing to climate change. The films offer alternative forms of energy development that ensure a more sustainable future for the environment and the people of Borneo.

A Positive Outcome
In 2016, the government was starting to build a new mega-dam, the Baram Dam. Researchers from Oxford University, the University of Malaysia, and UC Berkeley, all communicated their findings in this film series to support the efforts of the indigenous communities fighting the dam. When completed, the film series was used by activists in Malaysia to support their demand to stop the construction of the dam. This collaborative effort resulted in the Malaysia government's decision to stop the construction of the Baram Dam.
